Cindy Bishop Ministries is a 501-C3 non-profit faith-based Non Profit (with a Church designation) corporation. We currently have one women’s home for victims of domestic violence called the Sanctuary. At least 50% of women attribute domestic violence as a factor leading to their homelessness. In 2009, children made up 25% of the homeless living in emergency shelters and transitional housing. In 2010, that number rose to 30%. Low-wage workers have been particularly left behind as the disparity between rich and poor has mushroomed. To compound the problem, the real value of the minimum wage in 2004 was 26% less than in 1979 (The Economic Policy Institute, 2005). That statistic has not improved. With the absence of mental facilities in the United States, those citizens with mental illness are on the streets. In many cases they cannot hold full time employment without support. We are providing more than shelter - establishing structure, discipline and personal worth through sound teaching and rules for men and women to develop Christian based skill sets, for every day application.

Cindy Bishop Ministries (formerly Green Light Ministries) also provides one men’s facility that houses men who are homeless. This includes men whom through various circumstances find themselves without jobs, transportation, food or shelter. Our primary mission is not to provide a place for men to stay but programs that are Christian Based to help them have a productive life with Christ based skill sets. The men in our home range in age from: 15 years old to 65. Cindy Bishop Ministries has been serving the needs of homeless men and women for over seven years. We have been in operation for over three years at the REFUGE location.

Cindy Bishop Ministries is based in Azle, Texas and all facilities are in and around Azle. The rural setting provides a peaceful location away from the traditional homeless facilities and the accompanying temptations and distractions of those areas. The ministry provides support through faith based programs which include weekly AA/NA meetings, anger management, boundaries, and personal finance. The residents also attend daily Bible-based devotionals, Bible study and prayer time, Church on Sunday and Wednesday. The ministry provides support for job search, I.D., medical, and any other personal needs that help the individual get back on their feet and become a productive citizen.

The Sanctuary is a 2500 square foot country home that houses 15 women. It is on 2.5 acres and is a safe house for victims of domestic violence. The women’s program provides security and Christian programs that offer healing and the life skills to rebuild lives. Through experience, we have found that the women respond better in smaller groups in a home environment.

The REFUGE is a 9500 square foot facility on six (6) acres eight miles north of Azle, Texas on FM 730 North, just south of Boyd, Texas. The facility includes two dorms which are currently set-up to house 44 men total. The facility has a large classroom, a commercial kitchen and dining hall, living room, conference room and ministry corporate offices. Staff is on-site 24/7 year round. Three meals are provided every day and additional snacks, microwavable meals and cold beverages are available 24/7. Transportation is provided to all residents 6 days a week. The program runs Sunday through Friday, Saturday is a day of rest for all residents.
